How to Register?

Registration on bidorbuy is free! and a 2 step process.

Step 1: Fill in the registration form

When you click on the 'Join Now' link on the site, you will be taken to the registration form. Please fill in your Account Details.

Part A. Account Details

First Name: Enter your first name.

Last Name: Enter your last name.

Email Address: Enter your email Address. Always register with an active email address which you access regularly. Remember you will have to activate your bidorbuy account by clicking on an "Activation link" which will be mailed to you at this email address.

Confirm Email Address: Confirm you email address.

bidorbuy Username: Choose an appropriate bidorbuy Username for yourself.

    Do not use 'bidorbuy', '. com', 'dotcom', 'test'.
    Use only 'a-z', 'A-Z', '0-9', & '_' characters.
    Use minimum 5 & maximum 20 characters.
    Tip: You can also check for available bidorbuy Usernames.
You can also check for available bidorbuy usernames by clicking on the link 'Check for available bidorbuy username'.

Password : Choose an appropriate password for yourself which you can remember easily. You will have to login with your password for any buying/selling or any account related activities on bidorbuy. Please do not mention your password to any one.

Confirm Password: Confirm your password.

Date of Birth: Provide your date of birth. In case you forget your password this information will be used as a security check.

South African Identity Number: This field is not compulsory however is required if you are a South African citizen and plan to sell on the site.

Part B. Contact Details

To buy/sell on bidorbuy you will be asked to give your contact details. bidorbuy may use these details to contact you, if needed. Moreover, when you make a purchase on bidorbuy, the item will be shipped to you at this address, unless if you change the shipping address at the time of purchase. These details will also be used to contact you for your verification.

Address: Please specify accurate Postal Address details, in the two text boxes provided like Flat Number, Building Name, Street, Locality etc. Also select your Country and enter your correct Postal Code. For South African users it is very important that you enter your correct Postal Code as this is used for calculating the shipping costs of your purchases. If you are unsure of your Postal Code you can look it up on the South African Post Office web site.

Telephone Numbers: Specify correct Day and Evening phone numbers. Mention area code with the telephone number. E.g. 022 56611323

Preferred Contact Time: Select your preferred contact time from the drop down. bidorbuy will contact you only in these hours of the day.

Tick the check box if you wish to be informed about the bargains, deals, promotions & events on bidorbuy and about offers from bidorbuy's partner sites.

Read the Terms and Conditions carefully - I am above 18 years of age. I have read and agreed to abide by the bidorbuy.co.za User Agreement. I recognise that all selling and buying activity undertaken by me on the site is legally binding and I commit to honour all bids, purchases and sales.

Click on "Accept Terms & Submit" & proceed to Step 2. to activate your account.

Step 2: Activate your account

Check your email address you entered while registering and click on the link provided to activate your account. On clicking the activation link your account gets activated instantly and you will be able to use your bidorbuy Username and Password to login. Now you will be permitted to carry out any buying/selling or account related activity on bidorbuy.

1. Why do I need to register?

You need to be a registered bidorbuy user to be able to buy, bid and sell on bidorbuy. Registration helps you and bidorbuy in many other ways too. Firstly it helps bidorbuy contact you whenever needed and at various stages of the transaction. For example, when you buy, win a bid, sell an item, etc. Secondly, registration ensures a safe shopping environment since details of all users are known to bidorbuy. Registration is beneficial to you too since it entitles you to all regular, promotional and special offers on bidorbuy!

3. What is bidorbuy Username ?

Your bidorbuy Username is the way in which you would be identified on the site, your unique identification as a user.

4. Why do I need a Password?

You need a Password along with your bidorbuy Username to be able to transact on the site and access certain sections like 'my bidorbuy'. Your Password is known only to you and therefore it ensures that no one uses your bidorbuy account or transacts on your Id.

5. What if I forget my Password?

In case you forget your Password, click on the 'Forgot your Password' link on the Login page. Provide the email address and date of birth - details you have provided in the registration form. A new Password will be mailed you in a few minutes.

6. What is the bidorbuy profile?

The bidorbuy profile is the summary of a bidorbuy user's account. A profile contains the user's name city, age and the date since he/she has been a registered bidorbuy user. In addition to that, it also shows the user's profile as a buyer and as a seller.

7. What is 'Profile as a Seller'?

The 'Profile as a Seller' gives a brief profile of the user's activity on bidorbuy as a seller. It contains the following:

  • The total number of items sold in the past month, in the past three months and since registration.
  • Number of positive, negative and neutral ratings received in the past month, in the past three months and since registration.
  • Details of the ratings and feedback that other users have left on him. Here, one can view only positive, only negative or only neutral ratings by clicking on the respective buttons. In each rating, the bidorbuy Username of the person who has left the feedback, the detailed comment left, the response of the seller, the date the feedback was left and the item ID are mentioned.
  • Feedback that other users have left on him.
     

8. What is 'Profile as a Buyer'?

The 'Profile as a Buyer' gives a brief profile of the user's activity on bidorbuy as a buyer. It contains the following:

  • Total number of times that a person has bid on or purchased items on bidorbuy in the past month, in the past three months and since registration.
  • Number of positive, negative and neutral ratings received in the past month, in the past three months and since registration.
  • Details of the ratings and feedback that other users have left on him. Here, one can view only positive, only negative or only neutral ratings by clicking on the respective buttons. In each rating, the bidorbuy Username of the person who has left the feedback, the detailed comment left, the response of the seller, the date the feedback was left and the item ID are mentioned.
  • In case the user has received any SNC warning then the same would be mentioned on the bidorbuy Username .

9. Under what circumstances is a bidorbuy Username suspended or deactivated?

bidorbuy believes in offering its users an absolutely safe trading environment. For the same purpose, we suspend or deactivate accounts based on the following criteria:

  • A user having net negative 2 ratings.
  • A user with 3 or more SNC warnings.
  • A user with less than 70% positive ratings as a seller. Know more.
  • A user with incorrect contact details.
  • A user constantly posting contact details in Item Descriptions, bidorbuy Cafe or through Questions & Answers.
  • A user violating bidorbuy Terms and Conditions.
  • A seller refusing to pay the transaction fees even after successfully completing transactions.
  • A seller whose cheque has been dishonored.

In addition, bidorbuy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deactivate or suspend any account.

10. How do I change my Profile, Password, Email Address etc.

You can change your profile/account details like address, telephone numbers etc. after registering on bidorbuy by accessing Mybidorbuy. In Mybidorbuy go to 'Account Info' block - and click on Update Profile link. Or if you wish to change only your 'Email Address' or 'Password' specifically you could click on update 'Email' or 'Password' respectively. Remember after you change your email address you will need to reactivate your account by accessing your new email address and click on the activation link mailed to you again.
