Success Fees

The Success Fee only applies if you successfully sell an item on bidorbuy. You will be charged a Success Fee based on the Winning Bid Amount for your item(s).

The Success Fee is between 3.5% and 5% of the Winning Bid Amount of your Auction or Buy Now. Whether you have created a Standard Auction, a Buy Now Item or an Auction with a Reserve Price, the Success Fee is still calculated the same way, based on the below table. If there were no winning bids on your item, you will not be charged a Success Fee.

Standard Auctions:

Buy Now Items

If an item is purchased using the Buy Now function at the Buy Now Price, for the purpose of calculating the Success Fee this Buy Now Price corresponds to the Winning Bid Amount of a Standard Auction. Success Fees for Buy Now Items are therefore calculated in the same manner as Success Fees for Standard Auctions.

Auctions that are sold to runners-up

In the event the item is sold to the runner-up because the winning bidder defaulted, the Success Fee will be calculated using the Bid Amount of the runner-up's bid.

Here is how the Success Fee will be calculated:

• If your item sold for R250.00 or less, your Success Fee is simply 5% of the Winning Bid Amount.
• If the Winning Bid Amount is more than R250.00 and less than R5,000.00, then the Success Fee will be 5% on the first R250.00 (i.e. R12.50) plus 4% on the amount over the first R250.00.
• If the Winning Bid Amount is more than R5,000.00, then the Success Fee will be 5% on the first R250.00 plus 4% on the following R4,750.00 (i.e. R190.00), plus 3.5% on the amount over R5,000.00.

Examples:

• If your item is sold for R150.00 then the Success Fee will be 5% of R150.00 - i.e. R7.50.
• If your item is sold for R2,400.00 then the Success Fee will be 5% on the first R250.00 (i.e. R12.50) plus 4% on R2,150.00, being the amount over R250.00, which comes to R86.00. In total the Success Fee will be R98.50 (i.e. R12.50 + R86.00).
• If your item is sold for R8,000.00 then the Success Fee will be 5% on the first R250.00 (i.e. R12.50) plus 4% on the following R4,750.00 (i.e. R190.00) plus 3.5% on R3,000.00, being the amount over R5,000.00, which comes to R105.00. In this case the total Success fee will be R307.50 (i.e. R12.50 + R190.00 + R105.00).

Classifieds:

Classified listings do not incur success fees due to their nature, but a listing fee may apply. See the Classified Listing Fees Rate Card below.

Listing Fees Rate Card

Sellers need to pay a fee for each item that they list in certain categories, even if the item does not result in a sale.

Special Listing Fees Rate Card

Special Listings help sellers promote their items by increasing their visibility on bidorbuy. This fee is charged irrespective of the sale of the item.

NOTE: Special Listings Fees is non-refundable regardless of whether the sale is completed or not. Most categories qualify for the special fees rates below, but certain categories may have individual special fees charged per category.

Listing Type Description Rate per item (R) Home Page Featured Listing The item will be displayed as part of the 'Featured Items' section on the bidorbuy homepage and on top of the listing page of 'All Featured Items' (which is a link on the homepage) and as part of the 'Featured Listings' at the top of the listing pages of that category. Preference is given to items ending in the next 7 days. Example R50.00 Category Page Featured Listing The item will be displayed as part of the 'Featured Items' on the respective Category Page and under 'Featured Listings' at the top of the listing pages of that category. Preference is given to items ending in the next 7 days. Example R10.00 Paid Promotions The item will be part of the promotion that the seller has selected and will be featured in the relevant section on the site. Currently Crazy Wednesday Auctions and Snap Friday Auctions need to be set as paid promotions. Example R5.00 Priority The item will be displayed on both the category listing and the search results pages in a separate section called 'Priority Items' which will appear above the 'Regular Items' section. Example R5.00 Highlighted The item will be displayed on both the category listing and the search results pages with a yellow background so that it stands out from regular items. In addition, the item title will be emphasized in bold. Example R5.00 Promotional Category Listing If the item fits into more than one category, the seller can list the same in a second 'Promotional' category. bidorbuy may also run marketing promotions in which sellers can participate by selecting specially designated Promotional categories. Example Base rate R5.00 Special promotions may be higher. Premium Listing The item will be part of the Premium Listing's banner block, isolated from other Home Page listings on the right hand side of the bidorbuy home page. They will also be randomly displayed across the entire site beneath the sub-category headings on all main category pages regardless of the category the Premium Listing is listed in. Other than being promoted on the bidorbuy website, the items listed under Premium Listing's will also be marketed on participating 3rd party websites for further exposure. Example Special Launch Price from is R100.00 per listing NOTE: You may choose a combination of multiple Special Listings. In this case you will be charged separately for all the Special Listing options selected. Also note that certain categories are charged different to the above example see the table below.
